The National Rifle Association, the nation's primary lobby for unrestricted ownership of firearms, but it's not just a gun-owners group.  It also represents the interests of corporations that make and sell fireams.  And they donate liberally to keep the NRA in business.

Ted Cruz responded to a question about the trillion dollar nuclear arms buildup by endorsing an upgrade to all three "legs" of the nuclear triad. He also called for developing a missile defense system. But he thinks abolition of nuclear weapons can only be achieved in a fantasy world.

Governor Chris Christie held a town hall in Weare, NH on Saturday December 12th, I attended and was able to ask him a question about the immigrant detention quota.

Senator Marco Rubio ignored two questions about ending the immigrant detention quota and his connections with the private prison GEO Group, which lobbied for the detention quota and profits from detaining immigrants. Rubio did not take questions from the audience and did not attempt to answer these questions while shaking hands.

The National Defense Authorization Act, passed by Congress and signed by President Obama, opens federal coffers for design and construction of new nuclear weapons and the planes, missiles, and submarines designed to deliver them to targets all over the world.  It's a classic case of "governing under the influence" of the military-industrial-complex.
